About the event
The day will support reading leaders to implement a text-driven approach to teaching reading in KS2 in line with the recommendations of the reading framework. Using examples from a range of high-quality texts and drawing upon recent research, the course will explore how children’s reading fluency and comprehension skills are best developed. Throughout the day, there will be lots of opportunities for discussion and chances to experiment with new approaches as well as a time to dig into high-quality children’s literature. The session will also explore the transition from phonics and how less-fluent readers can be best supported through a school’s reading programme.
